Ledecky Wins Event, Bacon Breaks Record on Night 2 of Nationals

Katie Ledecky won her 2nd event of the meet on night 2 of the 2018 USA Swimming Phillips National Championships.  Ledecky touched first in the Women’s 200 Meter Freestyle and officially added another event to her schedule at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships.

Phoebe Bacon also had a standout swim on the 2nd night of racing.  She broke the 15-16 PVS Resident Record and NCAP Team Record in the Women’s 200 Meter Backstroke with a time of 2:12.09.  Bacon finished 18th in the event.

Jack Conger and John Shebat both competed in an A Final.  Shebat took 5th in the 50 Men’s Meter Butterfly.  Conger was 6th in the Men’s 200 Meter Freestyle.  Bacon was the only NCAP swimmer with multiple finals swims on night 2, as she added a 24th place finish in the Women’s 50 Meter Butterfly.  Sam Pomajevich came in 22nd in the Men’s 200 Meter Freestyle for NCAP’s other top 24 swim of the night.  Two NCAP swimmers competed in the 18&under final of the 200 Backstroke.  Sean Conway took 3rd in the men’s heat, while Katie Mack was 7th in the women’s heat.

NCAP alums Andrew Seliskar and Andrew Wilson also qualified to represent the United States at Pan Pacs.  Seliskar won the Men’s 200 Meter Freestyle.  Wilson finished 2nd in the Men’s 200 Meter Breaststroke.
