4 NCAP Swimmers Win 2016-2017 PVS Outstanding Distance Athlete Awards

Matthew Hirschberger, Katie Ledecky, Lane Stone and Chase Travis were named PVS Outstanding Distance Athletes for the 2016-2017 season.  This award is given to the top PVS female in the 1000 yard freestyle and 800 meter freestyle, as well as the top PVS male in the 1650 yard freestyle and 1500 meter freestyle during the period from September 1, 2016 to August 31, 2017.  PVS also awards the top 18&under swimmer in any of the 4 events in which the winner is older than 18.

Ledecky and Travis combined to sweep the women’s open awards.  Ledecky posted the top time in PVS in the 1000 yard free with a 9:08.99 from the 2016 Ohio St. Invitational.  Travis went 8:39.56 in the 800 meter free at the 2017 World Junior Championships for the top time in PVS in the event.  Stone also won an award in the open category with a time of 14:59.93 in 1650 yard free from the 2016 NCAP Invite.  Hirschberger was the fastest PVS 18&under male in the 1500 meter free with a time of 15:26.56 from 2017 Summer Nationals.
